What happens is: it's an auction. You bid. However, if you win, instead of sending the (real-life) dollars to the person making you the product, you donate that sum to a charity helping with the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. For your donation, you will get something from the person whose lot you bidded on (like a piece of art, a fanfic, a vid, icons, awesome points, et cetera).
